Power Tips For Successful Product Research

If you’re super serious about creating a product that either fulfills a specific need or solves a particularly frustrating problem for a market that is absolutely “starving” for it, then you’ll need to be certain to do a thorough job of research.

To achieve your goal, you’ll need to cover two main areas: market research and product research. And this in turn is conducted using two methods: online research and offline research.

A mission statement for this process would read something like this: The purpose of my research is to discover what my target market wants, and then figure out how I can create it and give it to them the way they want it.” Although it may sound complicated, the process for implementing it is quite simple.

Begin by trying to find out all you can about your target market. Conduct some very simple but effective online research. Discover their thoughts and feelings by frequenting forums where they hang out to discuss their hurts and hopes. Find out the websites that cater to their interests. Subscribe to the very same ezines and newsletters that they are reading.

Once you’ve gotten a feel for who your target market is and what their concerns and needs are, widen your level of research. Use the major online search engines to conduct your own search to find additional sources to help you compile or create the specific information product your target market wants.

Now let’s move to phase two: offline resources. Pay a visit to your local library or to one in a large city or at a college. While you’re there, spend some time doing good old-fashioned research like you used to do for those high school and college papers. Take notes on the information you find in books, magazines and reference materials as you continue finding or assembling information about your topic. And don’t forget to read the trade journals as well.

If you accept the challenge and complete the second phase of research, then you’ll be in for a very pleasant surprise. Due to your extensive research efforts on behalf of your target market, you will have discovered the names of experts who are the recognized authorities in their field. This is a potential goldmine for you and your target market.

Why? Because armed with that information you can then contact them with an offer to help them get some free exposure to their audience by allowing them to contribute to your product by sharing their expertise. This can be achieved through a number of ways including a teleseminar, a questionnaire, a special article or report written by them specifically for your product.

In short, you want to do everything you can to create the best possible product that provides the best possible information your target market needs to solve a problem or meet a need. You are going to become the authority on the very problem your hungry market is starving for a specific solution to that you know they must have.

Next, when you’ve gotten to the product creation stage, you’ll want to make certain that it is designed specifically with your target market in mind. Thanks to your in-depth research, you already know how to do this. Give them the solution they want, the way they want it. The format could be electronic, like an e-book or digital audio or video, or you could create a physical product, such as a workbook, CD, DVD or home study course.

Teleseminars: A Powerful Tool For Online Success

If you were to ask any of the best-known marketers which tool they would recommend to catapult you to a significant level of online success in the shortest time possible, their most likely response would be “Do a teleseminar.”

Why would a professional marketer give this answer? Because nine times out of ten, he or she has used this same tool to either create or build upon the success they currently enjoy.

Before we explore this topic further, ask yourself how many teleseminars you’ve listened to. If you’re like many who are involved in online marketing, you’ve more than likely listened to a few.

So, what’s the big deal about teleseminars? Well, first of all they are easy to do.

Find a topic that your target market can relate to or that they are keenly interested in, and then contact a recognized expert or two in your field and invite them to be a part of the call.

Then search for a company that will provide the size of bridge line you’ll need for the call—preferably one that will record it for you too.

Another reason for doing a teleseminar is that it’s a great way to build your list. If you choose a subject that is “near and dear” to your target audience, there is a great potential for you to create a large list of people who will sign up for the call.

This is especially true if the call will feature a well-known guest.

A third reason for doing a teleseminar is that once it’s done, you have an instant product! If you’ve done a little planning, you could even get a few testimonials about the call from the listeners, which could be included in any copy you create to market the call. Once you’ve got the recording you can offer it for sale to people who could not make the call or who chose not to sign-up.

Finally, another important reason for doing a teleseminar is that helps build credibility. It takes work and planning to pull off a successful and informative teleseminar.

By hosting one or being a guest speaker on a call, your perception in the minds of your target audience increases significantly. And if you’ve done your job well, your teleseminar could open the door to opportunities to move you to a new level of success.

Site Promotion With Digital Multimedia

It’s here; it’s hot, and it works! What am I talking about? Digital multimedia, of course!

If you’ve been involved in the Online Marketing industry for very long, you’ve already seen the introduction of numerous products incorporating digital multimedia.

One of the first and best known is John Reese’s Traffic Secrets, which was one of the first products to use video testimonials on a sales page.

Okay, digital multimedia is hot, and it has helped others to promote their site, product or service. But you want to know how can it help you with your site, right? To quote a famous poet, “let me count the ways.”

One of the easiest, and most popular, ways to use online multimedia to promote your site or product is GoogleVideo®.

Here’s the plan: create a video that features a unique aspect of your product, or that shows your product being used in a unique way, include a link to your site’s sales page or a sign-up page for more information, and then upload it (for FREE!) on GoogleVideo®.

Speaking of sales pages and sign-up pages, if it worked for John Reese, it could probably work for you too!

Create a video (or series of screenshots) showing a sample of your product or service. Put it on your sales page or “name squeeze” (sign-up) page. Include a purchase link or trial offer, respectively.

Who says you need to have your own products? Take these same suggestions and apply them to products that you are an affiliate for. That’s right; use digital multimedia to create your own reports or bonus tutorials as a purchase incentive.

You’ve seen them on the “big boys” sites. Why not beat them at their own game? Of course, I’m referring to those virtual tours. Only instead of showing off your office, create one that guides your visitors through an overview of your product, service or membership site.

Ever wanted to be reporter or a news personality? Now you can, thanks to digital multimedia. What’s the big news story? It’s your own personal review of a product or service. This could be for your own product or one that you’re an affiliate for. Who knows? If it’s for an affiliate product and you do a good job, the product owner (or a Super Affiliate) might want to buy it from you!

There you go! Five easy ways to promote using digital multimedia—and those were just off the top of my head. With just a little creativity, I’m sure you can come up with at least a half dozen more.
